    Locals in a picturesque Cotswold town have called for action over "nightmare" parking – with permits costing double that of London's wealthiest boroughs. Residents of Tetbury's ancient narrow streets, who have no option to park outside their homes, pay more than £600 a year for a parking permit. But, despite paying this sum, they do not have allocated spaces and say they are often unable to find a place to park near their homes.

    More than 70 tractors drove in convoy around Gloucestershire earlier to protest against inheritance tax changes. In October, the government announced it would charge a 20% inheritance tax on agricultural assets worth more than £1m for the first time, although the threshold for some farmers to pay will be £3m. The change has sparked fierce opposition from farmers, who say it will "ruin" farms and push food prices up.

    Some households will have to wait up to 28 days between bin collections over the festive period. Cheltenham residents who get their recycling or green bin waste collected between 11 December and 13 December will have to wait until 7-9 January. The borough council has said it want its waste and recycling teams to enjoy some proper time off and celebrate Christmas with their families.
