A man who subjected a child to years of sexual abuse has been jailed for 25 years. Caetano Mauricio Vas, 54, formerly of Lady Margaret Road in Southhall, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Wednesday after a trial in March. He was found guilty of four counts of rape of a child under 13, two counts of sexual assault by penetration, one count of inciting a girl under the age of 13 into sexual activity and one count of sexual assault.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found injured in a tent in the woods. Police were called to woodland close to The Weal, Weston, Bath, shortly after 03:00 BST to reports of a man shouting in pain. Officers on the scene found a man in a tent with "significant head injuries", who was taken to hospital. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.
