Grant Henley says he's confident his successor will be up to the task of leading the City of Busselton council. The local government election on October 21 will mark the end of a long career for Busselton Mayor Grant Henley. He made the decision to not contest this election in May, and told the Mail he leaves the role with no regrets. He joined council in 2009, concerned about a state government plan to develop over Churchill and Barnard Parks as part of a Jetty refurbishment plan.

Recfishwest has deployed four anchored buoys (FADs) off Cape Naturaliste to attract small bait fish and larger pelagic species. Picture is supplied. The State Government is putting funds into a program which is expected to offer more diverse sport fishing opportunities for recreational fishers in the upcoming summer season. 28 Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) will be dropped off Western Australia's coast, between Geraldton and Albany, over the next month.

Owners say larger boats are stuck in the Port Geographe Marina until dredging works are finished. Owners of larger boats moored in the Port Georgaphe Marina say they are stuck by a buildup of sand and seaweed in the entrance channel. Michael Southwell is one owner. He said he tried to take his yacht out of the Marina on October 5, but was unable to as the vessel, with a draft just under two metres, got grounded in the channel.

The current proposal for the Kaatijinup Biodiversity Park, which spans 319 Hectares of rehabiliated bush. The Shire of Capel Council has voted unanimously in to move forward in a plan to set up a massive biodiversity park along the Bussell Highway. The Kaatijinup Biodiversity Park is an ambitious plan proposed in large part by FAWNA, a local group which supports wildlife rehabilitation and research.

After a decade on the qualifying circuit, Margaret River's Jacob Willcox has made the cut for the World Surf League Championship Tour. "About f& kin time," Willcox wrote on Instagram announcing the news. "After 3 years in a row missing out by a heat it makes this moment so much more enjoyable. "It's cliche but the journey is the most important and enjoyable part of it all.
