1 IntroductionAging is a complex process that is characterized by a decline in physiological function and integrity. It involves macromolecular damage, impaired tissue renewal, and altered cellular signaling. This leads to tissue dysfunction, organ failure, and mortality (López-Otín et al., 2013; Zhang et al., 2015; Singh et al., 2019). Interestingly, skin aging can influence the aging phenotype in other organs.
