Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl who was found Wednesday afternoon inside of a car at a residence in the Wheaton-Glenmont area, police said Friday afternoon in a press release. Police have determined the death is not a homicide, according to the release. The child was “accidentally left inside” of the car, police spokesperson Shiera Goff told Bethesda Today on Friday afternoon.

Photo credit: Elia GriffinThe Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is over capacity with dogs and hoping that an adoption event on Saturday and Sunday, with fees being waived for dogs that weigh more than 30 pounds, will ease the overcrowding. According to a Wednesday press release, the adoption event will run throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday at the shelter at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.

Montgomery County police have charged a Gaithersburg man with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for allegedly shooting and injuring another man on Rockville Pike in late April, the department said Wednesday in a press release. Davion Gray, 23, was arrested by county police on April 29, according to digital court records.

Residents can verify licensing status and complaint history with the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection online and should report incidents to the police.
