A large water main break Monday on northbound Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda caused the closure of part of the road and left about 1,000 residents in a large multifamily apartment building without water as the region grapples with its first big winter storm of the new year, according to Montgomery County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Earl Stoddard. Fox 5 DC posted a video of the water main break, which could be viewed from the station’s Wisconsin Avenue office.

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced Monday afternoon that all schools and offices will be closed Tuesday after a snowstorm delivered up to 6 inches of snow to Montgomery County. All activities, field trips, and programs in schools and on school grounds, including childcare programs and community use activities, are also canceled, MCPS announced Monday.
