The hometown of Baldemar Huerta, better known by his stage name, Freddy Fender, will soon honor the trailblazing Tejano musician in a first-of-its-kind exhibit at the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum. “Freddy Fender: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Baldemar Huerta,” is the first to ever work with the artist’s estate. Running from Sept. 26 to Nov. 9, the exhibit will work to emphasize and display Fender’s generational impact as an artist across genres.

The 580-mile Matterhorn Express Pipeline is set to begin operations within the next month, moving natural gas from a West Texas terminal to Katy, outside of Houston. With the need for reliable energy increasing at the statewide and global level, the construction of Matterhorn and a handful of other pipelines in the area are being closely monitored by analysts worldwide. Nueces Mosque, an institution that has served Muslim UT students for decades, hosted its annual open house event on Sunday, titled “The Path to Peace.”The event began at 4 p.m., starting off with Asr, or afternoon prayer. Soon after, a community panel consisting of undergraduate and graduate students gave their thoughts on what makes Nueces special to them. The open house began just as a historic pro-Palestine protest at the state capitol came to a close.

Taxi company Cruise issued a nationwide suspension of driverless operations in a social media post Thursday. The announcement comes just 10 days after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a federal investigation into the company after reports of pedestrian accidents involving Cruise driverless cars in San Francisco.
