Seven false killer whales remain stranded on Tuesday morning at House Beach, about 12km east of Bremer Bay, with four of the animals dying overnight. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions said at about 8.20am, the other three whales remain alive but are still stranded on the beach. They said DBCA staff were at the scene and assessing the situation to determine the most humane course of action for these whales, which will likely be euthanasia.

A shark warning has been issued after authorities reported a whale stranding off the south coast on Monday. The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions spotted the school of whales at House Beach, about 10km east of Bremer Bay in the Shire of Jerramungup, at 5.03pm and reported the incident at 5.09pm. “The Parks and Wildlife Service is responding to a report of seven false killer whales stranded at House Beach,” a Parks and Wildlife Service statement said.

A 30-year-old man has died after his vehicle and another car collided on Albany Highway near Narrikup on Thursday morning. The man was driving a white Nissan Micra on Albany Highway near Red Hill Road at about 6.30am when he collided with a grey Holden Rodeo Utility. He died at the scene from his injuries. The 52-year-old driver of the ute was taken to Albany Health Campus with serious injuries.

A woman in her 30s has escaped serious injury after she rolled her car on South Coast Highway on Wednesday night. The 39-year-old was travelling east along South Coast Highway in West River when she lost control of her green Mitsubishi Colt and left the road. Speaking to the Albany Advertiser on Thursday, Ravensthorpe Officer-in-Charge Sergeant Mike Nardini said the woman had been driving for hours, having started her journey in Australind in the shire of Harvey.
