On April 29, 2025, the Missouri Supreme Court ruled to uphold Proposition A, the voter-approved initiative that increases the state’s minimum wage and requires employers to provide earned paid sick leave. The law will take effect as planned on Thursday, May 1. Proposition A raises minimum wage and introduces mandatory earned paid sick leave for most workers.

The earned paid sick time provisions of Proposition A are set to take effect on May 1, 2025. Missouri Proposition A requires employers to provide employees working in Missouri at least 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked and allows carryover of up to 80 of such hours per year. The law applies to almost all Missouri employees, including full-time, part-time and temporary with limited exceptions.
