Golf returned to the Olympic program in 2016 after a 112-year hiatus. Scottie Scheffler will compete in his first ever Olympics, though he was on the U.S. team for the Ryder Cup. The men’s Olympic golf competition featuring a 60-man field from 33 countries is Aug. 1 through Aug. 4. Two-time Masters champion Scottie Scheffler has been the No. 1 player in the world for more than a year. Now, the Texas resident is looking forward to representing his country and adding "Olympian" to his resume.

It’s Veterans Day, there's another way to honor those who served our country to ensure our freedom, donate a wreath to be placed at the gravestones at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. This year 59,000 graves needed a wreath at the cemetery and according to the Wreaths Across America website and organizers -- that's up from 54,000 last year. Last year, more than 7,000 were donated through NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 Veteran's Network page a little shy of more than 8,000 in 2022.

Will we see the total solar eclipse Monday? NBC 5's weather experts continue to monitor data, fine-tune and update the eclipse forecast, but you can still make the event fun. If you aren't going to one of the many North Texas events celebrating the eclipse, instead opting to stay home, we suggest having your TV tuned to NBC 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our Lone Star Eclipse coverage. Bluebonnets were adopted as the Texas state flower on March 7, 1901. There is no law prohibiting the picking of bluebonnets, but make sure you're not on private property taking picture to avoid a trespassing charge. Beware, snakes and fire ants love bluebonnets too!It's a sure sign of spring in Texas, Bluebonnets have started to spring up alongside highways in North Texas. An NBC 5 photojournalist captured video of the state flower along State Highway 360 near FAA Boulevard near the Studios at DFW.

Texas Rangers shortstop and World Series MVP Corey Seager was immortalized briefly in Dallas this week. The Shops at Park Lane was home to a 3D chalk art installation of Seager. Artist Jan Riggins switched up her previous plan once the Rangers won the World Series and created the artwork that looked as if Seager was bursting through a Texas-shaped hole in the sidewalk.
