It has been a transformational six years on Seattle’s waterfront. In 2019, runners and walkers took part in a race, which ended on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Joy Shigaki, the CEO of Friends of Waterfront Park says the event happened just a few months before the viaduct was torn down. “A lot of people remember how beautiful it was to do the final walk or run and take in and mark the historic moment in our city, for this next-generation project which was Waterfront Park,” said Shigaki.

In addition to these pop-up stands, brick-and-mortar shops and restaurants in Pioneer Square also see an increase in traffic before and after sporting events.

A vivid childhood memory: one winter evening in the early 90s, my family stopped in for dinner. As we waited for the food to arrive, I went to look at all the baseball cards up front and I felt a tap on my shoulder and got a "hey kid" from Bobby V himself.

On this day in 2017 I closed the original Bobby Valentine s Sports Gallery Cafe after 38 years of great memories. Thanks too all who helped make the good times roll.
