An Oelwein woman was arrested Tuesday after she admitted to police that she started a fire that burned down three houses, including her own residence, according to online criminal complaints. Jeannie Murphy Jeannie Murphy, 50, is charged with two counts of first-degree arson and one count of second-degree arson after police say she started a fire at 316 First Ave. NE, where she lived.

The body of a man reported missing two weeks ago in the Iowa City area was found over the weekend in the Iowa River, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Christopher Jennings, 63, was reported missing two weeks ago in the Iowa City area. His body was found on Friday in the Iowa River in southern Johnson County.

A Salem, Wisconsin man died Saturday after crashing into a deer in rural Allamakee County, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. Daniel Fisher, 64, was driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Highway 76 just south of the Upper Iowa River at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday. He hit a deer in the roadway and lost control of the motorcycle, the crash report states.
