One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30, between Clarence and Lowden, Thursday afternoon. According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2015 Chevy Malibu was turning left onto Taylor Ave from Eastbound Highway 30 when a semitruck hit the car from behind. The Chevy ended up in the southeast ditch, and the semi stopped in the eastbound shoulder of the road.

The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding information about the fatal shooting of a woman in December. Police found Christine Blount, 38, in the 600 block of S. Dodge Street when they responded to a report Dec. 30 of shots being fired in the area. She had been shot in the head multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where she died.

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he drowned his dog in a bathtub last month. Jesse Erger, 35, is charged with misdemeanor animal abuse. According to a criminal complaint, he killed his dog, Nash, by holding him underwater in a bathtub March 30. A warrant with a listed $5,000 bail was issued April 10 for his arrest and he was arrested Wednesday.
