This whole week has been hazy, hot and humid along with heavy rain and thunderstorms. This active weather pattern really doesn't settle down much as we head toward another weekend. In fact, the thunderstorm chances increase for both Saturday and Sunday. Because of the rain and extra cloud cover, temperatures may be a smidge cooler, but only down to the upper 80s. If you are planning outdoor events this weekend, then have a backup plan.

Showers with some heavy rain and thunderstorms have been firing up this evening, and even a few have been on the strong side. As we move into the final work day of the week, we'll see more of this same activity as the strong heat lingers one more day. Friday's highs will be in the low 90s again. The Heat Advisory will remain in place until Friday at 8 pm. The weekend is looking a little more active with more showers and thunderstorms.

This week hasn't quite made it into the record books for Lexington, but it has certainly been a challenging one with temperatures in the 90s and heat index values in the 100s. We do have some relief in sight as we near the weekend. Thursday and Friday will still be hot with highs in the 90s. Isolated shower and thunderstorm chances continue to lie on the table. Tomorrow will bring a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms mainly in eastern KY.

Plenty of heat is on the horizon for us here in the Commonwealth. For the rest of your Sunday expect plenty of sun with few afternoon clouds and a small chance for a pop up thundershower. Most will keep dry. High temperatures should not have any problem reaching the low 90s today and feel like the mid 90s. The humidity and heat index values will be the worst part of this heat wave. The heat will likely peak on Tuesday/Wednesday when temperatures will reach the mid 90s and feel like the upper 90s.

Welcome to official summer! This is the first hot stretch we have seen this year so you'll need to plan your weekend accordingly. High temperatures will be running into the low 90s and feeling hotter than that with some added humidity. The good news is that we are not tracking any rain or thunderstorms for the entirety of the weekend. Again, be safe in this heat. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if outdoors. As we move into next work week, we continue with this hot trend.

Eyes up tonight! June's full moon will occur at 3:43 am and we should have mostly clear skies for viewing. #18StormTracker #kywx https://t.co/BE402ozM6r

Tomorrow (Monday) is another day to stay weather aware as we'll be back under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms. The main threats will still be torrential rain, hail and damaging wind gusts. Best timing will be afternoon/evening. #18StormTracker #kywx https://t.co/AEn5gEUD0s
