Some more sunshine is in store for us as we roll into Mother's Day on Sunday. We will mostly stay quiet and dry, but we're watching a storm system south of us. If this moves north, southern KY could squeeze out a stray shower in the late evening, otherwise we'll just see a touch more in the way of cloud cover. Afternoon high temperatures should have no problems reaching the mid to upper 70s across the state. Enjoy the dry day because more rain and thunderstorms will ramp up as we hit Monday.

After a stunning Friday with sunshine, we have more of this kind of weather ahead for the weekend. A mostly clear sky tonight means temperatures will drop to the upper 30s/low 40s making for a chilly start to Saturday. Plenty of sun will continue through the day with high temperatures warming into the low 70s and we'll move up to the mid/upper 70s by Sunday. Mother's Day will be a beautiful one only with a very small chance for a stray shower in far southern KY.

Our afternoon has been a little more on the active side with heavy downpours in thunderstorms. There have been a few severe thunderstorm warnings mainly in southern KY. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in place until 11 pm with the threat for strong winds and large hail in any storm. Once we move past midnight, we'll see the weather quiet down as we turn cooler.

After a quiet start to the work week, weather wise, we have the chance to see some more rain and even a storm or two for Thursday. Overnight, we'll keep mostly cloudy and mostly dry. Thursday begins with a shower possible, but much of the storm activity won't get together until the afternoon. There is chance we could even see a strong or severe storm mainly in southeastern KY where a slight risk sits.

It's been a gloomy weekend for the most part with a lot of clouds and rain around plus not very warm temperatures. We have about one more day of this kind of weather before we see a pattern shift. Monday should still bring scattered t-showers to most of the state especially in the afternoon and we'll stay cool...only in the 50s. Tuesday looks to be better, though, as the low pressure finally starts to break down and move on.

After a gorgeous weekend, we're back to needing the rain gear most of this week. The highest rain and storm chances are Monday and Tuesday. #18StormTracker #kywx https://t.co/RodXQ11S5B
