    Photographs by Emily WilsonOn the afternoon of January 7th, several Malibu restaurants along the Pacific Coast Highway burned to the ground, engulfed by the ferocious Palisades Fire that ravaged an entire oceanside community. Among them were the beloved 36-year-old fish shack The Reel Inn and Cholada Thai, a beachy mainstay for pad thai noodles and tom yum soup.

    We’ll probably have more to say later, but for now, we’re still fighting these fires. There’s no prediction for when they’ll die out or how much damage will be done. All we know is that entire communities, namely Altadena and the Palisades, have been devastated. Thousands of homes and hundreds of businesses have been lost. We’re heartbroken, and we’re anxious. We love Los Angeles so much.
