Emma GonzalezStaff WriterAround 215 students showed up for the Coffee, Cookies and Chill event sponsored by the Campus Activities Board event at 11 a.m. on Nov. 21 at Sneaky Park. The event was created to relieve stress for students, as finals are approaching at the end of the semester. Christmas music played in the background as tan and pink crewnecks were handed to students. There were aromatherapy bracelets, cookies and iced coffee from Coffee by Sergio.

Emma GonzalezStaff WriterA recent informal survey on campus found that 13 out of 20 college students prefer digital textbooks over hard copy for a variety of reasons. While some surveyed said they like hard copy textbooks for retaining information and they feel they may be better for learning and retaining information, things such as physical space, convenience, and retention all impacted their preferences. But the main consideration driving their preference for digital was the lower price tag.

Emma GonzalezStaff WriterAround 35 students attended the Spoken Smiles comedy and poetry event Monday in La Fetra Hall Auditorium. The Campus Activities Board hosted the event with slam poetry duo Lane Shuler and Jonathan Clark from I.N.K. There was a range of musical and theatrical performances. The poems ranged from lighthearted to more serious in tone. Other performances consisted of an interactive approach.

Emma GonzalezStaff WriterThe “Open Sky” exhibit at the Benton Museum of Art in Claremont features the work of artists Xin Liu, Agnieszka Polska, Marcus Zúñiga, Malik Gaines and Alexandro Segade. Neon lights with shades of blue and yellow surrounded the exhibit. The colors and shapes in the exhibit acted as a reflection of the planet and the symbolic relationship to human nature. Video art of dragonflies were displayed with bean bags in front of the screen to encourage visitors to relax.
