A Planned Parenthood representative canceled LBCC’s domestic violence workshop due to the presence of a Viking News reporter on Wednesday. Emma Lloyd, an LBCC journalism student and staff writer for the Viking News, was trying to cover the workshop for a class assignment. The event, which was supposed to be held in the Black Student Success Center, was open to the public and all information was available on the LBCC website.

All college students know that textbooks can be extremely expensive. Fortunately, a textbook loan, offered through LBCC’s EOPS program, is currently available to eligible students outside the LAC’s M Building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, which ends on Thursday, helps underprivileged students get necessary books and supplies for free. Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), aims to provide services for students with economic, educational, or social barriers.

A woman has made £100k reselling second-hand clothes on Vinted and Depop. Becky Chorlton, 26, has always hated throwing things away and found a love for thrifting with her mum, Sandra, 62, a retired receptionist. Becky started listing some of her old clothes on Depop while studying for her masters in physical activity and health in July 2019. Within a couple of months she found she was pocketing more than she was earning from her part time job - around £100-a-week.

A break-in at Dunkin’ Donuts caused pieces of plywood and cardboard to cover the front entrance on Lakewood Boulevard near LBCC’s Liberal Arts Campus on Aug. 25. The break-in occurred at approximately 5:13 a.m., when the drive through was open but the inside was closed to the public.
