Lynchburg City Council may approve the addition of three new memorials to Monument Terrace at its next meeting. The plaque, sculpture and bench would recognize veterans of the major American conflicts after the Vietnam War: the Gulf War and the global war on terror. Lynchburg’s Community Development Director Tom Martin briefed council on the new additions during the body’s work session Tuesday.

LYNCHBURG — With construction of the new Lakeside Drive bridge and roundabout complete, the City of Lynchburg is undertaking another major project in the area — the removal of College Lake Dam will start in early January. Officials hope to reconnect the lake with the Blackwater Creek corridor while controlling significant loads of sediment behind the impoundment. Erin Hawkins is a Water Quality Manager with the Lynchburg Department of Water Resources and is serving as project manager.

Following the publication of the Central Bank’s draft Guidance on the Individual Accountability Framework (IAF) in March 2023 and the consultation process which closed in June 2023, it appears that publication of the final Guidance and the feedback statement on the Consultation is imminent and will be published next week.

LYNCHBURG — Seven parents of students at Sandusky Elementary School and T.C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation are suing Lynchburg City School Board Chair Atul Gupta and division Superintendent Crystal Edwards over the board’s Sept. 19 decision to close or convert both elementary schools.
