Man dies days after assault in Birmingham

A 50-year-old Birmingham man is dead after a reported assault, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. The man, identified as Darius Stinson, received blunt force injuries. The coroner's office said this happened on April 10 around 3 a.m. Stinson was pronounced dead at Princeton Baptist Medical Center 13 days later, on Wednesday. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating his death. This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.

Community Food Bank of Central Alabama breaks ground on new facility

By next spring, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama hopes to be serving those in need out of a new facility.The food bank broke ground on the facility Thursday morning. It will be on Turin Drive in Bessemer."This new facility means that we'll be able to feed more of our neighbors who experience food insecurity, and that's our mission, that's why we are here," said Nicole Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.

A fallen tree left a man dead in Jefferson County on Saturday.According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to Neely Road for a report of a tree falling on the man.
