Hononegah Volleyball holds off Boylan for seventh conference win of the season

ROCKFORD (WREX) - Hononegah Volleyball held off Boylan two sets to one to improve to 7-2 in conference play on Thursday. The Indians took the first set with the Titans taking the second. The Titans had Hononegah on the ropes in the third and final set, they took a 22-17 lead before Hononegah came roaring back to win 28-26. Auburn announces Leroy McFadden as next head football coach

ROCKFORD (WREX) - The next era of Knights football is underway at Auburn High School — the school officially announced the hiring of Leroy McFadden on Thursday. McFadden went to high school at Auburn before going to Michigan State to play football under Head Coach Nick Saban. He spent time in the NFL in the following years. More recently, McFadden has worked as an assistant coach in the area, spending time with Rockford Lutheran, Rockford Christian and Auburn.
Highland's Troy Cole Jr. Commits to Southeast Missouri State

FREEPORT (WREX) - Highland standout Sophomore Troy Cole Jr. is on his way to Division One Basketball. The 6-4 player led the Cougars in points per game in his first and only season with the team, averaging 16.5 a night. Cole earned Honorable Mention All-American honors as well to end his JUCO career. The future Redhawk had a long journey to Division One.

ROCKFORD (WREX) - The IceHogs know who they're playing in the playoffs, but they still have more to play for in the final three regular season games of the year. Rockford will play Grand Rapids in the division semifinal, with the divisions' second seed getting home ice in the best of five series. The Hogs trail the Griffins by just a point in the standings, if they can pass them in the final three games they'll have three games at the BMO as opposed to two in the playoff series.

BELOIT (WREX) - It didn’t take Mark Coley long to ingratiate himself to the good people of Beloit. Two at-bats, to be exact. Coley’s fourth-inning grand slam helped Beloit to an 11-5 victory over South Bend in the opener of a six-game series Tuesday at ABC Supply Stadium. The Sky Carp trailed 4-0 when Josh Zamora led off the third inning with a home run. That opened the floodgates for Beloit, which proceeded to score five runs in each of the next two innings.
