CLINTON A special town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in Town Hall for voters to approve a line item transfer for the police department to meet contractual salary increases. The total transfer request is for $211,433. If approved, the town’s contingency account would be decreased by $211,433 while the police salaries full-time line would increase by $196,408, and the employer social security contribution by line would increase by $15,025.

At its Nov. 6 meeting, the Town Council unanimously approved a budget calendar that calls for the council to hold a series of workshops during the months of February and March before providing a proposed budget on Tuesday, March 11. With the holiday season looming, Clinton’s proposed 2025-'26 fiscal year budget is probably the last thing on most people’s minds.

OLD SAYBROOK The applicants behind a plan to bring a Whole Foods to Old Saybrook provided an update on the status of the application to the Zoning Commission at a meeting on Dec. 2. A formal application is expected to follow. In 2022, the Carpionato Group, owners of the former Benny's plaza, announced that supermarket chain Whole Foods had signed a lease to open an Old Saybrook location.
