Turkiye's Government says a peace deal with a Kurdish militant group is an historic agreement that resolves a decades-old conflict. The Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, has agreed to disband after fighting the Turkish state for more than 40 years. The deal could also help settles conflicts in Iraq and Syria, if a process of disarmament and democratic recognition succeeds.

A Kurdish militant group that fought a four-decade insurgency against Türkiye has reportedly agreed to disband and lay down its weapons. A news agency linked to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is a listed terrorist organisation in Türkiye, Australia, the United States and Europe, says it resolved to disband at a meeting in eastern Türkiye last week.

Aid groups say people will soon die from hunger as Israel's blockade of food and other aid to Gaza extends into its third month. Israel stopped allowing any supplies, including food and medicine, into Gaza on March 2 in a bid to pressure the militant group Hamas into releasing Israeli hostages. Now, community kitchens that have been feeding hundreds of thousands of Gazans are about to close because they have run out of supplies.

A group of pro-Palestinian activists say their ship has been struck by drone fire in international waters off the coast of Malta. The group, the Freedom Flotilla coalition, says its passenger ship, Conscience, was 13 nautical miles east of Malta when it was struck twice in the bow, 20 minutes after midnight local time. According to the group, the strikes damaged the ship's generator and it was taking on water.

Aid groups say Israel's decision to block food from entering Gaza is starting to cause sickness and disorder in the besieged enclave. Today marks two months since Israel stopped allowing food, medicine and all other aid into Gaza, to pressure the militant group Hamas to release Israeli hostages. But, as people become increasingly malnourished and desperate, the Israeli Government is showing no sign of changing its mind.
