The iconic David Letterman, paid a visit to the penultimate episode of "The Nite Show with Danny Cashman" fulfilling a life long dream for Dan. As you would expect, Dave was funny and charming as hell, and he seemed to really enjoy his visit to Bangor.

Maine gets its fair share of celebrities who visit the state. "Stranger Things" and "Thunderbolts*" actor David Harbour was spotted at A1 Diner in Gardiner, Maine, in 2023, and Massachusetts native Matt Damon was at a Kittery smoothie shop in 2024. You might be surprised to know that "Mission: Impossible" star Tom Cruise, arguably one of the most famous Hollywood actors, once visited Maine and even made his way to an iconic seafood spot.

It's can really difficult to explain the weather Maine has experienced so far in 2025. For almost the entire year, it has been inconsistent. The winter was mild by scientific standards but felt cold, dark and miserable to exist through. Spring hasn't been particularly rainy but there have been days and days of cloud cover deterring temperatures from climbing and from people enjoying bright sunshine.

In the 1970s, Maine joined other states in the country by offering special vanity license plates for their vehicle. It gave drivers a way to make their vehicle unique and, more times than not, send a humorous message to other drivers. In other cases, it's a very direct message. In 2018, a Facebook and Instagram page appeared called Vanity of Maine, which has over 1,000 photos submitted to the page of Maine vanity plates. Here are just 15 of our favorites.
