The Oak Creek Applebee’s has closed. The location closed late last year due to concerns from the city’s health department, but it was able to reopen about a week later. Now a sign on the front door of the building at 7135 S. 13th St. says it’s “permanently closed.” It’s unclear exactly when the business shut down, but a Journal Sentinel reporter was made aware of the sign May 3.

You might not be able to smell what The Rock is cooking, but neighbors may be able to hear what The Rock in Franklin is playing as Milwaukee Milkmen games and some events at the sports complex are allowed to be a little louder this year.

A mixed-use development concept called The Prairie could bring apartments, condos, single-family homes and commercial space to nearly 116 acres in Oak Creek. The developers are seeking commercial tenants such as a grocery store, restaurants and retail shops. The project is still in the conceptual phase, with traffic studies and other analyses underway. A new neighborhood concept with a mix of commercial, apartments, condominiums and single-family homes could be coming to Oak Creek.
