The Perseids are active from mid-July through the end of August but are most visible in mid-August. The meteors, left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet, are known for leaving behind   This year, experts say viewers should be treated to a good show, thanks to the waning crescent moon that will be present and only about 10% lit.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New search warrants from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reveal the boyfriend of missing North Carolina woman Allisha Watts was the victim of an apparent attempted suicide when he was found in her car in Anson County earlier in July. They also reveal police were looking for any evidence that a homicide was committed or possibly covered up.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte Douglas International Airport worker has reached a settlement after suing an airline contractor for alleged pregnancy discrimination, a union representative said. Jetstream Ground Services, which provides cargo, baggage, and ramp handling resources to airlines, has agreed to pay $13,000 in damages to Morgani Brown, a cabin cleaner hired while pregnant in February of 2022.

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — The boyfriend of missing North Carolina woman Allisha Watts was found unresponsive inside her vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Anson County last week, investigators said. Watts, 39, was reported missing by her family after they last saw her on July 16. Family members told WCNC Charlotte that Watts was going to a comedy show in Charlotte that weekend and to visit her new boyfriend, who was identified as James Dunmore.
