    On Tuesday morning, University of Texas President Jay Hartzell announced that he will be leaving UT to take the same position at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. SMU’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted for Hartzell. In a university-wide email at approximately 11:00 a.m., Hartzell announced his departure to the UT students.

    This morning, UT’s campus newspaper’s editorial board, The Daily Texan, endorsed Kamala Harris for president in addition to Kathie Tovo for mayor and Colin Allred for senator. “Amid the United States’ increasingly polarized political climate, Kamala Harris represents a way for us to move forward,” the Daily Texan’s editorial board wrote.
