On November 14, 2024, the 2nd Geniko Lykeio of Arta had the privilege of hosting Ms. Maria Ntziouni, Advisor to the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). Ms. Ntziouni engaged with B’ class students, delivering an insightful lecture about the functions and operations of the European Union and the critical work undertaken by its institutions. During her talk, Ms. Ntziouni elaborated on the responsibilities of OLAF, emphasizing the importance of its role in maintaining financial integrity within the EU.

The European Union has been a strong advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities, fostering inclusion and addressing mental health as a fundamental aspect of overall well-being. As part of the ongoing “EU Values” project, the second year has been dedicated to exploring the EU Disability Strategy, emphasizing the rights of disabled individuals and the broader concept of inclusion.

From 9 to 15 September around 30 students with their teacher went to Brussels for the field trip organized within the Jean Monnet Project “European Values”. “European Values” involves, in addition to eCampus University as lead partner, five high schools from Italy (’IIS N. Machiavelli‘ of Lucca and “IIS Montessori Repetti” of Marina di Carrara), Cyprus (’Lykeio Agiou Antoniou‘ of Limassol), Denmark (’Ørestad Gymnasium‘ of Copenhagen) and Greece (’2nd Geniko Lykeio’ of Arta).

On September 12th, a group of students from five schools from four different countries, participating in the Erasmus+ “Jean Monnet” project, had the opportunity to visit the NATO headquarters in Brussels. During the visit, they received a restricted tour of the facility and met with prominent NATO members, including Ettore Marchesoni, the Advisor and Programme Manager from the SPS Management Unit and the Innovation, Hybrid and Cyber Division.

The role of regions within the European Union has grown alongside the evolution of cohesion policies. To ensure their voices are heard and to actively participate in European political dynamics, many regions have established permanent representations in Brussels. On the 10th September, the EU Values group activities were hosted by the Regional representation of Tuscany (Italy) in Brussels.
