While patrol rifles undoubtedly have their place, the shotgun, when properly configured, is still a viable and effective tool. Does it replace a patrol rifle? Not necessarily.     (No Ratings Yet)Loading... When Trijicon released the RCR—Ruggedized Close Reflex—in ’23, there was much discussion of the optic’s form, especially of the mounting system. The RCR is an enclosed emitter optic, like the Aimpoint Acro, Steiner MPS, and others. Most of the optics on long guns – carbines, shotguns, and sub-guns – are tubular, like a traditional scope. That has not been the case with the miniature backup optics that developed into the common pistol-mounted optics of today.

They asked for articles discussing close-range and point shooting. This led to a discussion of retention position shooting after a recent class. During this same time frame, I taught at the Pat Rogers Memorial Revolver Round-Up, a three-day revolver-centric event held at Gunsite. One of the other instructors was Cecil Burch.
