While patrol rifles undoubtedly have their place, the shotgun, when properly configured, is still a viable and effective tool. Does it replace a patrol rifle? Not necessarily. Does having a patrol rifle mean you shouldn’t also carry a shotgun? We will dig into that. What are the pros and cons of a shotgun versus a patrol rifle? Shotguns can be more difficult to keep fed.

During my two careers, I managed to at least encounter, if not wear, most of the “tactical” clothing styles we have had for a while. That includes several flavors of utilities from the Army – BDUs – heavy and lightweight woodland, OG107 jungle fatigues, six and three-color desert camo, and that ACU/Universal pattern.

Tourniquets are the standard of care due to their ease of use, rapid application, and complete stoppage of blood loss. Research indicates that prehospital tourniquet use significantly enhances survival rates for those with peripheral vascular injuries (limbs).
