On August 15, 2024, portions of the Federal Communications Commission's recent amendments to its broadcast sponsorship identification requirements for leased programming provided by foreign governmental entities (FSID Rules) will go into effect. As we explained in a previous alert, the FCC released a Second Report and Order (Second R&O) revising its FSID Rules last month.

On July 3, 2024, the Federal Register published a summary of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) Order on Reconsideration (Order) that reinstated section 73.3556 of the Commission's rules (the radio duplication rule) for commercial FM stations. The rule becomes effective on Friday, August 2, 2024. As we explained previously, the Order reimposes requirements that the Commission lifted in August 2020.

The deadline for submitting comments on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) 2022 Quadrennial Review of the Commission’s media ownership rules is March 3, 2023. Reply comments are due on March 20, 2023. The FCC’s Media Bureau commenced the 2022 Quadrennial Review proceeding with a Public Notice (PN) in late December 2022, which was published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2023.
