By September 26, 2024, broadcast (radio and television) licensees must pay all required annual regulatory fee payments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission). Payments received after the deadline will be assessed a 25% late payment penalty. Regulatory fee filings for fiscal year 2024 must be prepared and submitted through the Regulatory Fee Manager feature in the FCC’s “COmmission REgistration System,” more commonly known as “CORES.” The CORES website is found here.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) released the Report and Order (Order) in the 2018 Quadrennial Review, one day before the December 27 deadline mandated by the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. As expected, the Commission made no major changes to the Local Radio Ownership Rule (Local Radio Rule) and retained the Dual Network Rule.

According to the internet, rubber stamps can be traced back to 100 AD, when people in China carved text into wood (rubber as we know it in the 21st century wasn’t around until the 1800s) and then dipped the carved wood into ink in order to print text on paper. The accuracy of this history aside, the term “rubber stamping” today means “to approve automatically without proper consideration.” A recent decision by Administrative Law Judge Jane Hinckley Halprin is quite the opposite.
