The Cape Fear River region is experiencing dry conditions, with river levels comparable to those seen in 1981. April 2024 was unusually warm, with temperatures averaging 4.5 degrees above the 30-year norm. A persistent Bermuda high is responsible for the warm, dry weather. Rain chances increase over the weekend and into Sunday with the approach of a trough. Dry conditions are expected to return by mid-week.
