Coffee farmers and traders in Mateete Industrial area, Sembabule District, are reeling from a massive loss after a coffee dealer vanished with 29.5 tonnes of processed coffee worth Shs413 million. The dealer had collected coffee beans from various stores and factories, promising to pay the farmers within two days, but has since gone into hiding.

Police in Masaka City are holding two laboratory assistants and a private security guard who were allegedly found in possession of human organs. The suspects are attached to Lancet laboratories branch in Masaka City. The private security guard was reportedly offering courier services to the laboratory assistants to take the body organs to an unknown destination. Preliminary police investigations indicate that the trio was transporting human body parts to Kampala to Lancet laboratory.

A 39-year-old man, Antanansio Mayanja who is suspected to have cut off his lover's left palm in a garden at Kalunduka Village in Bukomansimbi District on Monday, has been arrested at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital. The unconscious Mayanja was dumped at the facility’s Accident & Emergency department, commonly known as Causality Ward on Friday by two unidentified women to get treatment after he reportedly attempted suicide by cutting his neck and left hand.
