1. IntroductionThe tumor microenvironment (TME) is a highly heterogeneous ecosystem involving cancer cells, multiple immunocytes, and many other types of cells, as well as their myriad interactions within the tumor [1,2,3]. The composition and state of the TME vary by tumor type, stage, location, intrinsic characteristics of the cancer cells, and patient-specific factors.
