After years of playing on makeshift fields, Halton Hills is finally getting its own dedicated cricket pitch, thanks to the efforts of the Halton Hills Cricket Club. What started as a small group of friends playing in a school parking lot has now evolved into a thriving club with dozens of active members and, soon, a dedicated cricket pitch at Trafalgar Sports Park, with construction expected to be completed by the end of March and the official inauguration scheduled for April.

The Upper Credit Humane Society (UCHS) is partnering with PetSmart Charities of Canada for National Adoption Week at PetSmart Georgetown, offering local residents the chance to adopt a pet in need. The event, running March 24 to 30 (Monday to Sunday), will feature adoptable animals of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, with a special adoption event on March 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal is to find homes for at least eight animals during the week.

School crossing guards work in all weather, rain or shine, to keep children safe and now kids across Ontario have a chance to say thank you through art. The Ontario Traffic Council School Crossing Programs Committee is inviting children between the ages of 4 and 14 to take part in a provincewide drawing contest for a chance to have their art featured in thank-you cards. These cards will be distributed to crossing guards during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, which runs from June 2 to 6.

The Town of Halton Hills is looking to hire more school crossing guards as the community grows and the demand for staff increases. Currently, the town employs 45 crossing guards, including 38 full-time positions and seven standbys. Although the roster is usually kept at these numbers, the growth of Halton Hills means there will be a continued need for new applicants.
