The winner of the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham racing festival has received a hero's welcome home in Co Meath. Hundreds of people turned out for Inothewayurthinkin’s homecoming at the Skryne GAA club. The JP McManus owned seven-year-old - a late entry into the festival showpiece - won the race by six lengths, denying Galopin Des Champs a hat trick. He was paraded around the pitch in front of fans of all ages, alongside his Cheltenham Cross Country Chase winning stablemate Stumptown.

The Taoiseach has said there is "no doubt" the decision by US President Donald Trump to pause military aid to Ukraine is "a very, very serious development". A White House official said yesterday that the "President has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. "We are pausing and reviewing our aid [to Ukraine] to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," the official added.

The Taoiseach has insisted proposed changes to the Triple Lock system on Irish troop deployments would "in no way undermine" Ireland's military neutrality. Draft legislation being brought to Cabinet today would remove the requirement for United Nations approval when deploying Irish troops outside the State. Under the bill, the number of soldiers that could be deployed as part of any mission would increase from 12 to 50.
