EDINBURGH residents have been encouraged to register to vote, as candidates for an upcoming local council by-election have now been announced. The City of Edinburgh Council confirmed the list of contenders last Friday for the Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart by-election, which will see 13 candidates stand. Constituents of the ward have been encouraged to vote before the deadline of midnight on Tuesday June 10.

AN APPEAL has been launched by Police Scotland to trace a woman reported missing from Edinburgh. Kirsty Herriot, 45, was last seen on Harvesters Way, Wester Hailes, around 4:20pm on Monday, 19 May. Police have described Kirsty to be around 5ft 8in in height and having long red hair, believed to be in a bun. She is said to be wearing an all-black outfit, including black fluffy sliders, black glasses and a cross-body bag.

AN EDINBURGH group has criticised a new report which will be considered at a meeting this week regarding spending as part of the council’s City Mobility Plan. Living Streets Edinburgh, a group which champions walking and wheeling to get around, has slammed a report which will be considered on Thursday at the City of Edinburgh Council’s transport and environment committee meeting. Recommendations in the report will be reviewed in regard to spending priorities as part of the City Mobility Plan.
