SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Commissioners Monday approved tourism grants for the Cheyenne County Fair, Potter Carbowl, Sidney Gold Rush Days and Cheyenne County Community Center's Wood Bat Tournament. Cheyenne County Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell said it has been four years since Sidney hosted a Wood Bat Tournament. "This tournament hasn't been held in Sidney since 2021. So, we're excited to have this back. The Visitors Committee is recommending a $1,350 grant for this tournament.

Earlier this year Adam and Lindsey Price announced the purchase of 827 10th Ave. The plan is for main floor as the Price Cream Co. store, and their home on the second floor. While opening day is still an unknown, the Prices are adding a coffee option for the location.

MORRILL COUNTY -- The Nebraska Court of Appeals has upheld the sentencing of a Morrill County man on child pornography charges. In May 2024, Duane Owen, Jr., was charged in Morrill County District Court with 25 counts of possession of child pornography, 1 count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, 1 count of third degree sexual assault on a juvenile, and 1 count of intentional child abuse.
