Sunday afternoon at the Chadron High School auditorium, folks were treated to a wide variety of young talent, as the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow returned. There were a total of 10 acts this year, incorporating 16 youth from kindergarten through Grade 12.

Last week, the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association conducted it’s annual meeting, re-electing board members and bringing on a newcomer, as well as providing updates on NNTA activities. Following the election, Kate Pope, Brad Retchless and Randy Burk will retain their positions on the board, with Kurt Kinbacher joining. Also during the meeting, Kerri Remmp of the Volksmarch subcommittee provided an update on the upcoming May 17 Volksmarch on May 17.

Just a few months shy of 20 years teaching, High School Spanish Teacher Cheryl Welch announced her retirement at the end of the current school year. “I really enjoy teaching. I’ve enjoyed my career as a teacher,” Welch said. She and her husband, Steve, moved to Chadron for her to go to school with no intention of staying initially. However, they found a nice place to live and local jobs, and really enjoyed the school system, so they felt content raising their daughters Greta and Mackenzie here.
