The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has threatened to sanction beneficiary tertiary institutions that fail to meet its performance benchmarks or mismanage allocated funds. The agency said it would de-list such tertiary institutions from its support programmes. Its Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, gave the warning at a one-day strategic engagement with heads of institutions, bursars, and heads of procurement of the agency’s beneficiary institutions yesterday in Abuja.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by MultiChoice against the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) for restraining it from effecting price increase. In a judgment delivered yesterday, Justice James Omotosho held that the suit constituted an abuse of the process of the court. The judge held that the suit was filed after a similar suit had been filed on the same issue by Festus Onifade, with MultiChoice and FCCPC as parties in the suit.

Seventy-five per cent of the 1,955,069 candidates who wrote this year’s University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored less than 200 out of the 400 maximum marks. Statistical analysis of the results released yesterday by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) indicated that 420,415 candidates scored above 200 marks while 7,658 had between 300 and 319. Those who recorded above 320 marks in the examination written between April 25 and last Friday are only 4,756.

A non-governmental organisation, YouthHubAfrica has trained 80 youth in the Federal Capital Territory on agroecology. The youth, who participated in the training, were selected from Waru, Dukpa, Bwari, Garki, New Jerusalem and Kabusa communities. The participants were selected based on their access to farmland and willingness to engage in long-term agricultural ventures.
