Last year, four of America’s top 10 best-selling vehicles — and the two best-selling overall — were full-size trucks. Those four models alone sold more than 2 million units. While it may seem clear from looking at our highways that trucks are popular, the data backs it up. America is truck country. It’s easy to see why. These days, a 1/2-ton pickup has excellent towing and payload capacity and off-road capability in a vehicle that is roomy and comfortable enough to be a family car.

Ford has issued a recall for 47 units of its 2025 F-150 hybrid pickup because they can lose drive power. Ford tells federal safety officials that factory workers installed one incorrect fuse in a high-voltage junction box. That fuse can blow under normal loads, causing a “sudden loss of motive power” to the truck. Ford is aware of the issue happening to six vehicles. The news is on fire with warnings of new car price hikes, but Nissan is cutting prices. The automaker yesterday lowered the MSRPs of two of its most popular models – the midsize Pathfinder SUV and its best-seller, the compact Rogue crossover. Both are mostly built in the U.S., exempting them from tariffs on finished cars (some Nissan Rogue models are also made in Japan).

Tesla has recalled 91 Model S sedans and Model X SUVs from model years 2021-2025 because their horns don’t work. All of the recalled models have had a repair involving their driver’s side airbags. Unlike other automakers, Tesla routinely changes parts and suppliers during a car’s production run. Two Teslas built a week apart can look identical but have different internal parts. In this case, Tesla says, its airbag unit also contains the car’s horn.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is all-new for 2025. Volkswagen’s best-selling vehicle, the compact SUV gets more power, better fuel economy, and a more grown-up look with the redesign. A new, 201-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine means it no longer has a significant power deficit compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson. Inside, it has lost its third row.
