By Fraser Clyne ResultsJamie Crowe claimed his first Scottish Half Marathon title after storming to an impressive victory in one most competitive races in the 40 year history of the Inverness Half event. Edinburgh AC athlete Nancy Scott followed up her National XC silver medal with gold in the women’s race. The men’s outcome was in doubt throughout as a large group of runners forced the pace in the Highland capital.

‘Last year Loch Ness was my 90th marathon and today was my 103rd, so I haven’t been doing as many as usual because I’m looking to the 100k.’Runner-up Boswell celebrated her 32nd birthday by clocking 2:55:14. Katie Wilson (Highland Hill Runners) came through in the closing stages to take third position in 3:03:29. +++Logan Rees overcame jet lag to rip apart the 16 year-old course record when winning the Baxters River Ness 10k ahead of a top quality field.

By Fraser Clyne It was great to see the Arbroath FC women’s team kicking off their season at the weekend. What many Lichties fans may not know is that women’s football in the town was first played more than a century ago. An exhibition match was held at Gayfield in 1895 featuring two teams from the visiting British Ladies Football Club. Then, during WW1, many businesses in the town formed women’s teams who played matches to raise funds for the war effort.
