GREENFIELD — The Green River Swim Area went to the dogs Sunday, as the third Mutts and Mayhem Obstacle Race was staged with proceeds benefiting the Paws Park on Petty Plain Road. More than 50 dogs were entered for the afternoon event. The race was a timed event and divided into two categories, with dogs weighing in at 40 pounds or less taking the small division category.

NORTHAMPTON — Don Rovero, of South Hadley and a longtime elementary music teacher in West Springfield, stood in front of his students Thursday singing, strumming and fingerpicking on a ukulele in the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library & Museum as part of National Play Your Ukulele Day on May 2. At the museum in the Forbes Library, his students this time were not elementary school students, but adults from various backgrounds, music abilities and special talents.

WESTFIELD – More than 100 visitors participated in “A Storybook Holiday,” a wine tasting fundraiser on Dec. 1 at the Westfield Athenaeum, according to athenaeum Trustee Jayne Mulligan. The fundraiser featured hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Westfield Technical Academy Culinary Department, live music by the Third Millennium Trio, with plenty of wreaths and centerpieces raffled off during the two-hour event.
