WOLFEBORO — State criminal investigators are renewing calls for help from the public in seeking information regarding the 2009 murder of a Wolfeboro woman whose case ran cold. Attorney General John Formella and the Cold Case Unit issued a renewed request for assistance on Friday morning, seeking information on the killing of Stacey Burns. Burns, who Formella described as a “loving mother of five” children, was apparently killed 16 years ago. “This remains an open homicide investigation.

LACONIA — City councilors will hold one public hearing and consider several other items relating to private roads within city limits at their meeting on Monday night. The council meeting is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 12, at City Hall downtown. The public hearing scheduled for money is to deal with a request to extend emergency lane designations for Plantation and Colonial roads. Both roads are located off Endicott Street East in the Weirs.

LACONIA — Police are tracking a sneaky driveway paving scheme cropping up around the city in recent weeks. “We’ve had several people that have been scammed,” Chief Matt Canfield said Tuesday morning. Several residents have reported solicitors showing up to their property, telling homeowners they’ve got leftover pavement after completing a job for the city, or otherwise and offering a cheap deal.

FRANKLIN — Firefighters responded to a house fire on Sunday morning. There were no injuries. The City of Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at 14 Timberland Drive just before 11 a.m. on May 4, Chief Michael Foss wrote in a news release. Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS, as well as the Hill and Bristol fire departments were sent as automatic aid to Franklin.
