    EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) — For a few hours, a hot summer day in June felt like a high school football Friday at Lakeside High School. Over 100 1st through 8th graders flooded the Lakeside football field Friday night in the first Gridiron Greatness Football Clinic. A one-day clinic put on by former Augusta-area football stars and current NFL coaches Brian Bratton and Brandon Lynch. The two were former rivals in high school, Bratton playing for Lakeside and Lynch for Hephzibah.

    EVANS, Ga. (WJBF) – Thursday was championship day at Bartram Trail Golf Course in Evans as the annual Vaughn Taylor Golf Championships came to a close. And we got to see winners of both girls and boys play crowned with a record-setting performance to boot. After four days of competitive golf, it was Tommy Evans of Charlestown, West Virginia not only adding his name to the list of champions on the boys side, but doing so in record-setting fashion.

    ATHENS, Ga. (WJBF) — The Thomson Bulldogs made their presence felt Thursday on Day 3 of the annual Kirby Smart 7-on-7 tournament played on the University of Georgia’s campus. And for coach Michael Youngblood, who wants to see his program get back to state championship-level dominance, that’s good enough for him. The Bulldogs played their way into a top-seed once morning pool play gave way to afternoon tournament play.

    HARLEM, Ga. (WJBF) — There’s a face familiar to the CSRA’s basketball scene now leading the way for the Harlem girls basketball program. George Dukes was announced as Harlem’s new head girls basketball coach Wednesday afternoon via the school’s Facebook page. Some may remember him as the former Region Coach of the Year in 2020 and 2022 while coaching the Grovetown girls. Dukes comes to Harlem with college coaching experience as well.
