AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — While Westside football players were busy breaking a sweat on their first day of summer workouts under new coach Cedric Mason, Earl Chaptman, a newly-minted Patriot assistant coach was working hard to not burst into tears. “It feels good to be back out. COLUMBIA, S.C. (WJBF) — One of the biggest cheers during Saturday night’s state championship clinching game for the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers came not from what happened on the field, but what was said from the press box. The public address announcer stated the attendance at Founder’s Park for the SCHSL Class 2A state championship game was 1,277. And probably about 1,100 of those folks were from Batesburg-Leesville.
