AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — There’s a new football leader at Augusta Christian. According to a Thursday afternoon post on Augusta Christian’s X account, the Lions have tabbed Brandon Compton has their new head football coach, succeeding Mark Etheridge who stepped in at the midpoint of the 2023 season in relief of Chris Thomas. Etheridge guided the Lions to a pair of 4-7 finishes with SCISA Class AAAA state playoff appearances before moving on from the program.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – There aren’t many women coaching varsity boys basketball in the state of Georgia. Former Cross Creek girls basketball coach Kim Schlein is now one who is. Schlein, the former longtime Cross Creek girls basketball coach who brought multiple region championships and a state title to the school, was announced as Augusta Prep’s new boys high school basketball coach on Wednesday afternoon.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Augusta National Golf Club announced a partnership with Tiger Woods, his nonprofit TGR Foundation and the Richmond County School System to create a TGR Learning Lab in Augusta. The partnership was revealed in a Monday afternoon press conference at Augusta National by Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley along with Richmond County Board of Education president Shawnda Stovall and RCSS Interim Superintendent Dr. Malinda Cobb. The TGR Learning Lab will be the fourth of its kind.
