The thing about "Golf's Longest Day" is that it can get even longer. Not only did Max Homa experience the annual agony of U.S. Open final qualifying Monday, but he added an extra hurdle to his day by carrying his clubs for 36 holes in regulation play and then for two more thanks to what would be an unsuccessful playoff.

When Scottie Scheffler holds a 54-hole lead, the result is all but predetermined, not only because of Scheffler's talent, but because of the effect he has on the leaderboard at any golf tournament. The 2025 Memorial Tournament, which marked Scheffler's 16th PGA Tour win on Sunday, was no different. Discussions to transform the Tour Championship began over the winter, with a bracket-style format floated as a possibility.

After a six-month-long search, Craig Kessler has been appointed as the newest commissioner of the LPGA, the tour announced Thursday. Kessler, 39, replaces interim commissioner Liz Moore, who stepped in when Mollie Marcoux Samaan resigned in December. Appointed by an LPGA search committee and approved by players and sponsors alike, Kessler is the league's 10th commissioner. "This isn't just about leading a sports organization - it's about redefining what's possible," Kessler said in a statement.
