His niece was forced to wait for either a 165km helicopter to Cork or a 71km ambulance journey to Galway after suffering a 'life threatening situation' while at her Clare school.

An Irish Rail train has terminated fully just minutes before its final stop over a 'passenger issue'. The 5:45am Dublin Heuston train to Galway was delayed in Athenry shortly before 9am with an Irish Rail spokesperson confirming that it was due to a serious issue. The spokesperson also confirmed that as a result, the train will now stop completely in Athenry. They said: "Update: 05:45 Heuston to Galway delayed at Athenry due to a passenger issue.
