A proposal has been submitted by Bus Éireann to Galway City Council for major upgrades of the bus depot at Galway Harbour Enterprise Park including charging stations for the new vehicles. Swimmers have been told that bathing is currently prohibited at Grattan Road Beach in Galway city and East End Beach in Inisbofin, Co. Galway. In a notice on Thursday, May 29, Galway City Council said: “Bathing is prohibited due to high levels of bacteria ‘Intestinal Enterococci’ detected in the water sample taken at Grattan Road Beach on May 26.”The likely cause has been touted as ‘suspected contaminated urban runoff’. The expected duration of the bacteria is two to four days.
