Ossie and wife Celia (Image: Supplied) HE went from the corridors of St Margaret's Primary School to the catwalks of Paris and Milan. But his Warrington influence never left him. This week in Looking Back we reflect on the extraordinary life of Ossie Clark. In 1949 seven-year-old Raymond Clark and his family moved to No. 5 Sandy Lane West in Orford. His new classmates at St Margaret’s School promptly christened him ‘Ossie’ because of his broad Oswaldtwistle accent.

WARRINGTON Wolves picked up their third win of the season over derby rivals St Helens in a physical battle at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. The win confirms Warrington can finish no lower than third in Super League. Wire made a nightmare start gifting two penalties, the second of which saw Jon Bennison kick two points from close range to give the visitors the lead. It was worse when Fitzgibbon was sent to the sin bin for a late hit. Controversially it came after a long injury.

IN the tide of Tory defeats in the early hours of Friday, Andy Carter was also swept away. In the end the drama of the 'will he, won't he' stand debate mattered little as he fell to a huge defeat to Labour rival Sarah Hall in Warrington South. Since elected four-and-a-half years ago as a Boris Johnson powered Conservative rose to power, he has enjoyed a rollercoaster.

WARRINGTON Wolve's young squad will move forward if they learn from the mistakes made in at Wembley. Gary Chambers, director of rugby at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, said the pain of losing a Challenge Cup Final will only be felt fully if they don’t learn from what went wrong. He explained a stop start first half, which included two sin bins and a number of penalties and unforced errors, contributed to a Wire side failing to find their rhythm when it mattered most.
