A caretaker has been charged after Verona police say she neglected a special-needs patient who requires around-the-clock care. The Verona Police Department was originally called to a welfare check along North Avenue on Friday, just after 4 p.m., after receiving reports that a care-dependent individual was left alone at a home. Aryann Harper, 24, has been charged after she allegedly left the patient's residence after her relief worker was late to begin the next shift.

Two residents in two different western Pennsylvania counties won a recent Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 with Quick Cash jackpot and will split the prize. Two jackpot-winning tickets from the Monday, June 9, drawing will split a jackpot prize of $2,325,690. The winning tickets were sold in Butler and Erie counties. Each jackpot-winning ticket matched all five balls drawn, 4-7-17-27-36, to win individual prizes of $1,162,845. More than 44,700 other Cash 5 with Quick Cash tickets also won in the drawing.

Pennsylvania American Water has announced that it will soon begin replacing approximately 357 lead service lines that have been identified in Pittsburgh and Mount Oliver Borough. This project, which starts mid-June, is funded by a $1.6 million low-interest loan and a $3.3 million grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, according to a news release from Pennsylvania American Water.

The 2025 Tony Awards honored the best of Broadway on Sunday night, and two Carnegie Mellon University alumnae took home two awards at the 78th edition of the award show. Natalie Venetia Belcon, a 1991 School of Drama alumna, won the Tony for Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her role in "Buena Vista Social Club."Jamie deRoy, a 1967 graduate, also won an award for her producing role on "Sunset Blvd.," which won the Best Revival of a Musical category.
