A new and improved pedestrian crossing has been installed near a railway station. Work on the toucan crossing and improved junction lay-out has recently been completed on Park Lane, close to Congleton railway station. This location was identified as a gap in the provision on a priority route to the town centre for pedestrians and cyclists. Prior to the construction of this scheme, there was no direct and safe crossing point on Park Lane.

A woman who along with her boyfriend was forced to flee his flat after a tractor smashed into the property has revealed it could be "another two weeks" before they can get back inside to rescue their belongings. Charlotte Charles says she and her partner Jack ran out of the flat in just their pyjamas following the collision last week. Police were called to the incident on the A51 Vicars Cross Road, near to the junction of Pearl Lane, shortly after 6.30am on Tuesday, April 1.
