    A man who assaulted his ex-partner on several occasions - including biting her and grabbing her by the throat - has been put behind bars. Ben Carr was jailed for 30 months when he appeared at Chester Crown Court. The 42-year-old was previously found guilty of controlling and coercive behaviour following a trial. On top of his sentence, Carr will serve an additional eight weeks for the activation of a suspended sentence previously imposed in June 2022 by North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

Stagecoach's distinctive red open-top buses are back on the city streets with the Town Crier officially opening the tours. The launch of the new £5 ticket means passengers can journey through the city’s famous sights and rich history, including the Roman Amphitheatre, Chester Cathedral and the River Dee in an hour, freeing up more time for them to explore.
